Evergreen Trading Giving Fund

Providing a financial benefit to our clients and trading partners through corporate trade is just part of our mission. Everyone at Evergreen Trading is committed to giving back to the world community in which we live and work.  To honor this commitment, the Evergreen Trading Giving Fund was established as a vehicle to support charities consistent with the values of Evergreen Trading.

The Giving Fund will be maintained by the donation of a minimum of 2% of the company’s gross profits.

One of the accomplishments of the Giving Fund was our seed funding for the Action Center in Jefferson County Colorado.

In 2012, The Evergreen Trading Giving Fund (ETGF) provided the start-up money for The Action Center to expand their 45 day emergency homeless shelter (the only general purpose shelter in Jefferson County Colorado) by developing a much needed After Care Program. ETGF has been a consistent supporter since 2012.

Shelter guests can only stay at the shelter for 45 days which is clearly not enough time to find housing, locate reliable employment, stabilize ones family and begin to develop the skills necessary to end the cycle of poverty and homelessness.  The After-Care Program, funded by Evergreen Trading, provides an intensive skill building Case-Manager to follow families and individuals after they have graduated from the 45 shelter stay. The staff works with clients to sharpen skill-sets, identify and retain employment and locate affordable permanent housing options so that clients, with a lot of hard work, transform themselves into self-sufficient, contributing members of society.

In 2014, Evergreen Trading increased its funding to the Action Center; helping the After-Care Program increase it’s staffing to serve more clients.

The exploitation of minors is an alarming reality in the United States, and it comes in many forms: Bullying has evolved into an issue with often severe consequences. One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused by age eighteen. And the commercial sexual exploitation of children in the U.S. is part of a thirty-two billion dollar criminal industry. Perpetrators of crimes of sexual exploitation view schools as a prime location to recruit new pimps and lure new victims. These youth often have no idea what is really happening to them until it is too late. The purpose of The Empower Youth Program, therefore, is to equip students with strategies to stay safe from exploitation.

The flagship program of iEmpathize is The Empower Youth Program, a curricular tool that equips adults who work with youth to facilitate prevention-focused conversations about empathy and exploitation in their schools and neighborhoods. Educators, parents, and youth service providers utilize this five-part series of short films, activities, and discussion questions to empower teens 12 and up to successfully navigate the vulnerabilities in their lives in order to stay safe from exploitation. The Evergreen Trading Giving Fund provided iEmpathize with a matching grant to fund the core production of the Spanish adaptation of The Empower Youth Program. Because of this gift, we can provide Spanish-speaking youth throughout the United States and Mexico with the same access to quality, prevention education.

The Evergreen Trading Giving Fund is proud to have provided start-up funding in 2016 for All Our Kids (AOK), in Washington, DC.

AOK’s mission is to build community to unleash the potential of young people. AOK creates the family we all want, using an approach rooted in love and high expectations to help D.C. young people who lack the support they need define and acquire the resources, knowledge, skills and self-confidence they need to be successful.

WE recognize the incredible value our young people have to offer, challenge them to shoot for the stars, and provide the resources and support they need to succeed. The AOK approach results in confident young people moving with intention toward self-defined goals; adults who grow from participating in diverse communities; and strong partnerships with community and faith organizations and the business community united around supporting our young people.
